Bangkok · Routine Servicing

I brought in my father's Seiko 5 for a routine service. The team was transparent from the start — they sent me a written summary before starting any work. The piece came back running noticeably better, and the service record they included was far more detailed than anything I'd seen from previous workshops.

Chiang Mai · Case Refinishing

I was nervous about handing over a vintage Tissot my grandmother left me. What I appreciated was that they didn't assume I wanted the case polished — they asked what outcome I was looking for and were clear that keeping the original brushed finish was a valid choice. That kind of conversation was exactly what I needed before agreeing to anything.

Bangkok · Heritage Overhaul

My 1969 Longines chronograph hadn't run properly in years. Cogwright agreed to take it on and kept me informed at each stage — I received photographs of the movement before and after cleaning, which I hadn't expected. The turnaround was around seven weeks, which felt honest given what the piece needed. It's running well.

Bangkok · Routine Servicing

Short review from someone who has used them twice: both times the watch came back on time, the price was what they quoted, and the service record was included. That combination is rarer than it should be.

Bangkok · Case Refinishing

The crystal on my Omega Constellation had a long scratch I'd been trying to ignore. Cogwright replaced it cleanly and also caught that the crown gasket was perishing — they called before touching it. The only reason I didn't give five stars is the wait for a replacement gasket took a bit longer than estimated, but they were upfront about it.

Pattaya · Heritage Overhaul

I made a trip from Pattaya specifically for this. Had a 1974 Citizen Bullhead chronograph that two other workshops declined. Wanchai took the time to explain exactly what the movement needed and gave me a realistic picture of the outcome — not every function would be fully restored, and he was honest about which parts were borderline. Appreciated that honesty. The end result was better than I expected.

Some watches in more detail

Challenge

1982 Rolex Datejust losing 40 seconds per day

The owner had noticed inconsistent timekeeping over several months. A previous workshop had adjusted the regulator without servicing the movement, which had given temporary improvement but not addressed the underlying condition.

What Was Done

Full disassembly of the 1570 caliber. Ultrasonic cleaning cycle. Inspection under stereo microscope identified worn jewel seatings on the pallet fork. Moebius lubrication to specification throughout. Timing over 72 hours across multiple positions before reassembly.

Outcome

The movement settled to +4 seconds per day in crown-up position. Owner received timing graph and written service record. Turnaround: 19 days. Service cost: ฿3,400 base rate.

"The difference is immediately noticeable. I haven't had to adjust it once in six weeks."

Challenge

Vintage Omega Seamaster with deteriorated crystal and worn case

Inherited piece from the 1960s. The acrylic crystal had crazing across the surface and the case showed uneven wear from a previous polish that had removed some of the original brushed finish texture.

What Was Done

Pre-work assessment documented the existing condition. Owner opted to retain the worn character of the case rather than re-polish. Crystal was replaced with a period-correct domed acrylic. Dial was cleaned with conservative methods — no dial restoration attempted.

Outcome

The piece retained its vintage character while becoming usable again. Owner received before and after photographs in the service record. Turnaround: 10 days. Service cost: ฿6,800.

"They understood immediately that I didn't want it looking like new. That was a relief."

Challenge

1970s Heuer Carrera chronograph — column wheel slipping

The start/stop/reset sequence had become unreliable. One of two previous workshops had declined without examination. The other had quoted a price without opening the case, which the owner found unconvincing.

What Was Done

Full disassembly of the Valjoux 7736 caliber. Column wheel and coupling clutch examined under magnification — a worn click spring identified as the cause. Replacement sourced from specialist supplier in Germany. Stage-by-stage documentation with photographs shared with the owner throughout.

Outcome

Chronograph function fully restored. Timekeeping within ±6 seconds per day. Owner received a detailed written account including part sourcing documentation. Turnaround: 6 weeks. Service cost: ฿11,200 base rate plus parts.

"Watching Wanchai walk me through what was found at collection was worth the trip on its own."
